I'm Happiest When I'm With You - For Colour Blast

Hello crafty friends - its Kerry here again with another card.

I love this technique and you could easily change your colours to suit a 'male' card and you can adapt it for any theme, Birthday, Wedding, Christmas...anything.

First I took a piece of watercolour paper but you could use any kind of cardstock, I just prefer the thickness of the 300gsm watercolour paper.  I used a small piece of washi tape to adhere a 'burst' mask to my card.

Using Black Archival Ink, I stamped over the top of the mask.

Next I took out the Colour Blast pastes in several colours, starting with 'Envy'.  I smeared a small amount of the paste over the top of the stamping and the mask.  I made sure the paste was thin enough in some places to still see my stamping underneath.

Using the same 'smearing' technique, I added a little of the 'Singin the Blues' paste.....

 Followed by 'Rose Petal' paste......

And finally, the 'Royalty' paste.

Then I removed the mask to reveal the crisp white 'Burst' underneath.

I allowed the paste to dry, then I added some 'Dusty Charcoal' paste through a dot stencil.

After the pastes were all dry and super vibrant I added a little more background stamping.  I finished it off with some rhinestones, sequins, microbeads and a Tim Holtz Chit Chat quote.

Catching Dreams

I have been a bit obsessed with dreamcatchers and vibrant colours of late, so I decided to try and satisfy the obsession by doing both at once.  This is a larger piece than my journal, so its not going to fit in unless I cut it in half...LOL... which I may actually do.  The background was done with various spray inks and the feathers were drawn on to separate watercolour papers that I had previously coloured with spray inks, then cut out and adhered with matte medium.  The dreamcatcher was done with a very over sized Whichcraft stencil that was custom cut to this size :)

More Squares and a Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Today I have a process video showing you how you can make a quick set of cards.  I find its great to have a few cards on hand for that unexpected birthday party that the kids get invited to, or for sending someone a quick 'Thank you' note.  These cards would even make a lovely gift to give someone. They are so quick and easy and super fun to make!

The video will give you a step by step guide to the creative process. Grab a cuppa and enjoy the video, the link is at the end of this post!

I started by smearing two pieces of cardstock with the Colour Blast Pastes.  The green tones are 'Deep Water' and 'Envy' and the purple is 'Royalty' and 'Rose Petal'.  When these were dry I cut them into squares.  I stamped and edged them in Black Archival ink.

The card bases were randomly splattered or stamped to create an interesting background and then the coloured squared are layered ontop.  This technique really gives you endless layout opportunities as the little coloured squares are really the 'stars of the show'. To add a little bit more to the cards, I spritzed them all with the 'Bling' Colour Shimmer Spray.

And here's the process video for you.
Thanks for dropping in.
