Fairy Bauble

Here is a little fairy 'snow globe' bauble I have created using Lavinia stamps.  Sorry about the glare on the bauble but I think you will get the idea.
I cut the backing card for the bauble and coloured it with my copic air gun using B29 and BV19 (I think...lol).  I then stamped the fairy in black archival and then stamped the snowflakes in versamark and embossed with holographic embossing powder, excluding the snowflake that she is catching which was embossed in white.  I stamped the mushrooms in black archival, threw a few polystyrene balls in the bauble before adhering the bauble to the backing. Then I added a few fibers and the ribbon with some tiny bells. Merry Christmas!

I am entering this project into the Lavinia Stamps challenge blog.

Upcycled Coaster Set

I recently found this set of coasters in my local op shop (charity store). I knew immediately that I wanted to alter them, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so they sat for a while on my table.

Then one of my favorite artists, Marta Lapkowska (check out her blog), made a piece and called it 'Tiny Art', which was fabulous and inspired me to make my own 'Tiny Art'.

I made this one first with the butterfly, but made it a bit too dimensional so I decided that this would live on the top of the stack and as I made the others I made sure I didn't make them too dimensional.
I used a bunch of clock parts and some of Finnabair's copper crackle paste, and used treasure gold in many colours on the wooden edges.

This one was made with a cut out from some patterned paper and a small piece of Tim Holtz film strip.  The number is from my Whichcraft store and the letter is from my stash.  A couple of rhinestones and some microbeads.
I used a tiny picture and a metal filigree which I had rusted with some ferrous powder and rusting solution, a few Prima crystals and more micro beads.  I also used a small piece of gauze that I coloured with the leftover rusting solution and some paint.

This dragonfly was from an old necklace, a little bit more gauze and glass glitter in the center of the dragonfly.

I designed and cut the 'steampunk heart parts' (which will be available in my next new release), layered this on top of some gauze, threw a few more micro beads around and added the roman numeral.

I rusted the key and the small calico tag using the same ferrous powder and solution then I darkened the key with some big brush markers

The keyhole was another old necklace which I again rusted and sat on top of some glass glitter, the Fleur de lis is a sticker.

Various Finnabair Mechanical pieces here are coloured with a little paint and some treasure gold, I poked a few pieces of gauze underneath and sprinkled a few microbeads about.  All the words are from Tim Holtz Chit Chat and Big Chat stickers.

So here is my 'Tiny Art'.  Thanks for stopping by! xx

You Are Capable Of Becoming More Than You Realise

Good Evening!  I have spent most of the day getting my neglected blog back in order (somewhat).  This made me realize that I have become one of those people that I remember thinking my parents were... you know, one of those technologically challenged people that you just cant believe they cant understand how it all works.... oh well!  So after that punishment I took myself off to more familiar surroundings for a play.
I started with an MDF panel that I covered in 3 layers of scrunched up tissue paper.  I used soft matte gel for this, then I coated it with black gesso.

The coloured fabric was a leftover piece of transfer dyed lutrador-ish fabric.  The colours don't show up as well as they do in real life.  They almost look like they are glowing.  I wrapped some green beaded wire over the top and then placed a piece of webbed ribbon on top of that.
The orange circles were also leftovers from a previous project and were coloured with gelatos.  The butterfly was fussy cut from some paper from my stash and placed on top of a small piece of black cheesecloth (also a left over).
I added the quote with some Tim Holtz chit chat stickers, sprinkled a few micro beads around, added some copper ink splashes and some treasure gold around the edges then I called it done!  Thanks for looking!

Keep Some Room In Your Heart For The Unimaginable

Good afternoon.  Quite a few people have asked me how I made this piece, my steps and the products used.  To be honest it was an experimental piece and has had far too many steps to mention (including being cast aside in frustration at least twice).
Firstly I was inspired by the art of two ladies.  Firstly the wonderful colours and textures created by Abyssimo and also Riikka Kovasin who made an awesome heart canvas that had me so inspired! I urge you to take a look at both of these ladies work if you haven't already.

I will list as much as I can below to try to help answer some of these questions.
Firstly I painted an MDF board with gesso and then various shades of green in Fresco paints and also lumiere paints.  After it was dry i added some golden crackle paste which I coloured with some primary elements powders in orange (sorry dont know the name of it).  I left it aside to dry for several days.  I then added numerous paints and sprays and inks and mica powders with a small brush to get the many colours you can see.  This took a very long time but I found it very relaxing and could have probably played on for hours.
I found this wooden?? heart in my stash (i think its wood)  painted it with fresco paints and added some gold treasure gold.  I wrapped it in some wire in copper and purple (the purple had beads already on it).  I coloured a piece of cheesecloth with black dylusions spray and added a little purple and copper paint here and there.
I also added some copper and purple micro beads and the larger glass beads are called 'glass beads' by Matisse.  I added some thicker wire in both purple and copper and threw in a few Prima crystals to boot.  The words are from Tim Holtz chit chat stickers.

I think that about covers it (but I left out all the swear words that were used in the production of this piece)!!  Thanks all for looking and as always comments are appreciated :)

Mixed Media Card - Love You

Hello!
I started this card with some watercolour paper for the background and used distress sprays in broken china, salty ocean and cracked pistachio.
I have added a piece of Whichcraft grid mesh behind the heart, (also from Whichcraft), that was painted black with distress paint in black soot.
I coloured the heart and the small squares with gelatos in various reds, oranges and yellows and stamped with black archival ink.
I sprayed a piece of cheesecloth with black dylusions spray and added some red micro beads and the 'love you' from Tim holtz chit chat stickers.
I added a piece of black lace tape behind the squares and the blue/green fluffy fabric is a piece of babywipe used to clean the excess spray from the watercolor background.  Inked all the edges with black archival ink.
